Our community fundraised for 25+ years and residents donated money for the Event Centre which was developed with Council’s support and backing from the outset.
In 2013 they agreed it was needed, and to provide funding if the community raised $1m.
We raised $2.2m.
The building was gifted to the Council in 2022 on the promise they would fund, finish and open it.
WCC just announced they want to pull their funding commitment, sell it to a developer or bulldoze it.
